MONDAY MORNING FAST TRACKS July 18

Heard through the grapevine that CREAM will reunite once again for couple of concert dates at Madison Square Garden this Autumn. Exact dates have not been confirmed yet but word is they will play 3 dates. No other CREAM concerts are expected to take place as Eric Clapton wants to do more solo work. The only other possibilty, if any at all, will be a West Coast venue.
....David Gilmour says PINK FLOYD may get together again if the circumstances were right, meaning a worthwhile charity event. A perminent reunion is practically out of the question....Saw the Smothers Brothers Friday evening at the North Fork Theater in Westbury NY; very funny, very talented, was quite surprised. Tom(68) and Dick (67) still going strong after all these years....

Postscript on LIVE 8

My one disappointment was that I missed a lot of key performances from the various venues. I am not a subscriber to AOL so I guess that's the price I pay. With so many concerts going on at the same time, I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way. I am looking forward to the DVD release of the concerts. I hope it is an 8 DVD box set covvering all 8 concerts. A great day for a great cause.

PINK FLOYD 2005

It was an absolute thrill to see Pink Floyd together again last weekend at the LIVE 8 concert in England. After decades apart, they sounded as good as ever. David Gilmour can still play a mean guitar and his vocals were top notch. Roger Waters looked excited and extremely happy. Let's hope this is not just a one shot deal. If I get more inside info, I will surely be posting it.

No Olympics for New York

Stepping outside the realm of entertainment and inside the political waters, I find out this morning that New York has lost it's bid for hosting the 2012 Olympics. As a New Yorker and a proud American citizen, I think it's a damn shame that the time and effort to make this happen was wasted because of poor planning and poor leadership on New York's part. The Bloomberg administration could have done a much better job by having all the chips in place before chasing their Olympic dream. Rudy Gulliani, where were you when we needed you? I am greatly disappointed as are most Americans. The only consilation is that Paris also lost out. Oh well.
